So, these charging points, where are they in my village ? where are they going to be in that block of flats, no drive roadside houses etc ? bit of work to be done yet i think ! wood pellets drivepower stations, wood all the way from germany / usa, joke ! Onto chargers, this is from gov website = The chargepoint must have appropriate security measures to ensure that its functions are resilient to cyber-attack. The chargepoint must ensure that any communications are exchanged in a secure manner with an appropriate level of encryption to prevent interception by an un-authorised third party. So if you can hack the chargers, you stop the country in 1 day flat ! joke ! and the chargers, fitted by "suppliers" are only guaranteed 3 years so you must add this "cost" after 3 years, you can onlyuse a contractor registered through the Highways and Electrical Registration Scheme (HERS). seems like a job to be in maybe ?

The problem with aiming for small margins is that you will then only ever get small margins, you'll never have a nice juicy £5K one (I've had less than 5of those over the years so not there yet sadly). If a dealer clears £250 per car they need to sell 20 cars for each £5K. That's 20 TIMES more chances of something going pop & bang, 20 times more chances of screamers, 20 times more MOTing, 20 times more valeting, 20 times more servicing and repairs and MUCH higher AT or premises or storage bill. One guy can have 20 nice cars, the other guy needs 400! And several times more staff. And less finance penetration as % and a much lesser chance of another high value p/x for retail... Listen, I lived in £2989 land for years (you know I hate XX95 pricing) and I regret it. This comfort that we have with certain price points works against us sometimes :-)
  5. Dodgy auction tactics

It was about time someone reported them to the office of fair trading...they do have powers to conduct undercover investigations... And power to rifle through paper work...
  6. Electric Cars

Yeah one lap at the moment as they want them to keep the power cranked up, to keep up the quick average lap times-rather than turn them down and have more laps. Mind you, one lap is what- 37 odd miles. Mugen team /technology is way ahead of the others is the issue. Amazing bit of kit. (Might have been John McGuiness’ last TT,ride & he came second.)
  7. Electric Cars

They were faster top end than the stocks, amazing as they are carrying so much more weight, I think they come in at 245kg average? It is only a one lap race isn't it?

  9. Hello

Welcome BIGNIT, Have been in the same boat as yourself, Lots of knowledge and helpful people on here apart from couple of HMRC employees, they will be here shortly. Where abouts do you advertise and what sort of stock do you mainly sell?
  10. Electric Cars

Talking electric, just been watching the isle of man TT and an electric bike hasjust done a top speed of 176mph and an average lap speed of 121mph on the 37mile 1 lap race, amazing.
  11. Bye bye autotrader

Big margins pop up and you reap the benefit, sometimes you wipe your face, sometimes you lose. Those boasting big profits with stocking loans must be deeply concerned ...
  12. finance

Or first response if you sell older stuff
  13. Bye bye autotrader

If you were to sell your house with an estate agent and theytold you theydidn't advertise on Rightmove, its probably likely you wouldn't go with that agent. I had a mini in stock for nearly 7 months and in the end reduced it to cost on trader as soon as I done this Igot a cracking 1 series in chop sold it 3 days later and made £1200, exactly the same scenario with a Bmax, took a Meriva in swap sold it 1 week later with another goodmargin. For me Its all about opportunity and keeping the cashflow going, yes I don't want to be a busy fool but the days of waiting for big margins never seems to come if I'm not moving stock quickly then when are the good opportunity's going to come? I'd rather turn each car over 7 times a year with smaller margin than turninga car over twice a year with big margins.

Rights and wrongs of EVs? All I'm bothered about is being able to get where I want, when I want, which is the same as when I bought a £300 Datsun Cherry when I was 17. And 90% of Joe Public are the same. As long as I can sell profitably, thats all that matters, and EVs will be profitable, some more than others, as is the case now. Are they the right things to have? From a direct pollution (the fumes at the roadside) perspective absolutely. As an example, we were away in our caravan over may bank holiday and the chap next door had turned up in his w reg MG Midget. When he drove it past my kids (10 and 8 years old) were covering their faces because of the fumes. And thats what we all grew up with. So we've come a long way, because a new petrol or diesel is so much better than that, but when it goes that bit further with all the EVs how much nicer will that be? Unless you live next to the coal power station producing the electricity.......

I bought my lap top home yesterday as the weather is appauling and yesterday only one person came (and bought). So glad I am sat at home, walked the dog and watching the unit and forecourt via CCTV - no one has ventured near, so right decision so far.

Ha-brill. Same here. Do have fully functioning system. No rain though- or punters. Have been offered a 2003 Suzuki Wagon R. How exciting- as you say: not. Can I make it as far as three o'clock I wonder..

Someone will come up with Range Anxiety pills, the new legal high for raves and E car owners.Servicemanagers could include them with their service packages.....I am watching the pitch this week,it is still pissing down,DMS down,so no tradeand....plenty of people bringing in rough cars to bid on,great fun not !
  21. Electric Cars

Range anxiety, I like that.....I'll pass that on.
  22. Electric Cars

I think they call it 'range anxiety'. I wonder how many people do more than 80 miles a day? (as a percentage of drivers) 11 miles to work for me.

If he turns lights off and doesn't use the heater he gets more distance....which sorta limits things a tad. 50 mile round trip is his limit, after that he worries. He has a Megane too now as the Leaf wasn't the panacea he thought it would be. He has spoken with Nissan about the range issue but has been told that driving conditions, including hills and weather (not too many hills in Norfolk but can be windy) and that the lack of noise can encourage' enthusiastic driving which reduces range. Never has so much fuss, been made about so few, by so many.
