Like everything, I never say never as never is a very long time.
The first two months (post AT) were record times for me. This month has dropped off quite a bit but I have also ditched Ebay to give Car Gurus a fair chance, I'm curently sat on 4 for the month sold and gone, which is ok (if I pro rata that for a full month) but not brilliant.
I am debating giving AT another month with increased stock volumes (I was only on 5+2 with them and stock around 20) but I am concerned becuase those trades local to me say it is quiet generally so this may not be a true reflection on how good/bad a platform is working.
I am going away in a couple of weeks but when I get back, I shall decide on which way to go following one full month with just Car Gurus.
That bill is not missed though but if it double my sales volumes, I would welcome it back.
Let's see what happens by month end.

I do advertise with them and have been for many years. We try and monitor where our enquiries come from and I would say that on average probably 80% of our sales come from them. I did cancel them last year but didn't even make the full month without them because it was like a tap had been turned off. We are also on Cargurus and Ebay. Nothing would make me happier than kicking them into touch but I don't think I would survive with the few deals that come from elsewhere

Final update......................collected it this morning from a company called "Just Peugeot" near Walsall, great bunch of guys really knew there stuff, I had new clutch, Dual mass flywheel, Thrust bearing, New oils for actuator as well as it being all set up on there diagnostics machines, Works exactly as it should now, I was there this morning for the 1st start up of the weekend the garage them selves having done 2 stone cold starts already,
£1200 and i wont get any of that back on the sale price but i will make a big thing on the add and anyone who visits, Its a very salable point, luckily the cosmetics are decent so its not quite the margin i wanted but at least its now working and soon to be on sale

Oh yes they do. Otherwise why does everyone that ring me ask What are the "couple of minor marks" that you mentioned in your advert text?
I now put that "couple of minor marks" in every advert. Works superbly against the "Oh, but I thought you said the car was immaculate" brigade.

You are very fortunate that you can still buy direct from franchise dealers, that fizzled out many years ago for most of us.I much prefer ex fleet stuff although I rarely buy it these days as we only have a small pitch and I am very part time.We now just buy from the local BCA and at the door,I don’t even buy online anymore. If I was starting out again it would definately not be in this business.

But the sites give you a final price. So if it was £500 cheaper then you pay that you dont ask them to knock off another £300.
Yet the same people go into a shop and pay £1000 for an iphone x or £2000 for a 65" tv (yet most dont know if you ask the currys manager he may knock off something or Chuck in a longer warranty)
I do believe in political classes in line with buying patterns...
Dont think Tory supporters will send daft offers or ask for last price without viewing. If so it will be a very small number
On the other hand you got the fascists with no teeth in a rough estate whos 02 reg Clio died and now he's looking at a £1800 motor and says "I'll gis yous £700quid for it m8?"
Then he'll come over with another 10 chavs expecting a brand new car
Seriously thinking of folding if this continues.
I much rather get into property. Do an empty house up and sell it. Less people to deal with = less hassle

I knocked AT on the head months ago, not for obvious reasons but to allow time to concentrate on other projects. So far, there has been no time to fully concentrate on other projects as folk keep buying cars, with only one paid for platform on the dd list. Funny old game.

Just back from 8 days in Italy and catching up. Dealer & Autolink, you have both mirrored my sentiments exactly. I could just have easily made the same comments. Expenses through the roof. The sales volume overall nationally is still there, but theres probably 5 times the amount of lines and hooks out there all trying to catch the same amount of fish in the lake as there were 5-8 yrs ago. So business is spread out a lot thinner between more dealers, many of whom just don't seem to want to work with good margins (no disrespect). I have been through lots of peaks and troughs over 28 years working on my own, and the peaks always used to more than made up the troughs. But during the past couple of years, it either troughs or flatline. You can never seem catch up again on the quiet months. My business is split 50-50 internet and passing/repeat trade. Even the passing trade has recently died off.
And as for the p/ex cheapies...I just lol when they try and chip me. I tell them the car is push bike money, but at least they have a heater and air con with it!!

An old neighbour of ours used to think if she saw a car with sold on my site we had that whole amount to spend, she just could not understand we only got a small perecentage, most employed people I know do not understand the difference between margin and profit.

We are absolutely dead and have been since the kids broke up for Easter last month, we had a blinding start to April with 10 deals in the first 10 days but only 4 since then! It's like our advertising has been turned off and I check it daily to make sure it hasn't. Trouble is it makes you wonder whether you suddenly have all the wrong stock. I have got be honest this is happening more and more often now and I am seriously considering giving my site up. With all the overheads including staff and a £3K Autotrader bill each month, its easy to go backwards very quickly indeed. I currently have 26 advertised and so far this month have had no more than 6 enquiries, I kid you not, It's a joke

Stone chip on a bonnet will not make any difference to a modern day buyer’s decision.
If they walked away it WASN’T because of one stone chip on a bonnet.
I’ve never steamed cleaned an engine bay in the 14 years I’ve been selling cars and it definitely hasn’t lost me much (if any) business.
Get some water in an engine ECU, let if freeze overnight, see what happens:-)

Been very quiet here for a couple of weeks really , still sold some but not the usual buzz in last couple of weeks .
Today I came prepared to drink coffee , catch up , have a chat , Being Mothers day
BUT had one guy waiting for me this morning , two calls as I unlocked and they came too an hour later . Two people decided to collect today instead of in the morning
So sold 3 and they left the building , with the two collections we lost five in two half hours .
Result , No coffee , No chat , Should of finished early today for family lunch but now waiting for another customer . " I cant say no "
Never tell in this job can you , No pattern, no reason , just either flat out or stationary .
Hope it picks up for you that's having it slow ,

Welcome to the dark side everyone and I wish you well!
As I have mentioned (and been shot down) many times over the last couple of years: life goes on just fine without them. Nearly three years now and we stock 5 up to 10 grand mostly, with a few up to 20.
You need to work ebay MP and Bookface to get results and spend a little on SEO - PM me if you need any pointers.
