  1. For 420k an hour I’d do a lot of things
  2. These people must be thick as shit, sending architectural plans to car dealers through AutoTrader, if that doesn’t ring a bell what does?
  3. 4 cars at a time, selling 10 a month? Manages to find, prep, and sell those 10 cars in spare time? I struggle with 3 a month along side my day job. Either you are superman, or talking shit. I’m guessing it’s the latter
  4. Merry Christmas everyone, have a good one, and if you don’t like Xmas, alcohol is your friend
  5. What sort of sill damage are you talking about. Is this something he could done to the car in his possession?
  6. This. Trouble I’m having at this time of year though is people phone, but don’t want to come weekdays after work cos it’s dark. Which means it’s predominantly weekends, and those that can’t wait are going elsewhere
  7. I got her a quote for a Parrott fitted, even with that the 1.2 was £500 cheaper than the Ecoboost, go figure.
  8. Well, despite my best advice, she went for the Ecoboost over the 1.2, simply because it had Bluetooth
  9. Like you I have a great passion for cars, so in Feb this year I sold my 2017 Focus RS to fund starting this business and follow that passion, as a result of that decision I’m currently driving a....Peugeot 307 CC Like you I’m doing this alongside the day job. I also bought and sold a lot of cars over the years, sometime just changing my personal car, sometimes purely to make a few quid. This time I’ve done it all 100% legit, VAT registered, warranties etc etc, and I have to say it’s a lot harder to turn a decent profit now. Its not all doom and gloom though, I love doing this, love buying, selling and even preparing. It’s a lot slower than I ever thought it would be, I only have 3 cars though so that doesn’t help. Like the others have said, £100k sounds about right before you could get serious momentum doing this. I can honestly see it taking me 5 years or more before I could do this full time, unless things picked up at some point. You do sound like you’ve got a sensible head on you, especially for your age, that will definitely help. Try to see it as a hobby to begin with, enjoy it, keep the day job going and maybe one day this will take over. Good luck with it.
  10. Thanks for all the advice chaps, took her to see an Ecoboost and a 1.2. Clearly educated her on the Ecoboost issues, so now it’s up-to her to decide. I’m not supplying, just trying to make sure she doesn’t buy a lemon. Did consider it, but thought not worth the ag for a few hundred quid benefit cheers Nick, would have passed her onto you as I know she’d be in good hands, but her budget is £6k.
  11. I’m going to be helping the wife’s friend buy a Ford Fiesta today, I remember many of you guys saying the Ecoboost engines are trouble, could someone tell me what the main things to look out for are please? It’s not a car I would normally buy so don’t know much about them.
  12. Thanks all. I was tempted by the CTEK Nick, but as I’m a tight arse I saved 20 quid and bought a Sealey
  13. Hi all, can anyone recommend a cheapish battery charger/conditioner. Can tell winter is coming, cars are beginning not to start
  14. Download the Flippin Cars auction fee calculator. Does BCA, Mannheim, all the different cards etc. I’ve found it to be pretty close to reality
  15. Fair enough. I don’t buy much though so I don’t fancy my chances.
  16. No, I’ve just swallowed it.
  17. Happened to me the other day, 1st time online bidding as well, everything stacked up on the car and it was supposedly a grade 3. In reality, the car is total creature, grade 4 at best. Had I of been at the block, wouldn’t even have bid on it. Will be a while before I try online again I think.
  18. All your incentives seem to be prostitute based at the moment. To begin with they were offered alive, now they are dead
  19. I’ve had a few, all been good apart from one which I bid online for. Had I of seen it in the flesh, I wouldn’t have bought it.
  20. didn’t think of that Done a lot of these RS200’s, I like them Ive just had some shit luck on a Fiesta, so perhaps things are back in balance now
  21. Bought a Clio RS at the weekend for a good price. Knocked 500 off on the phone, went to see it and one of the keyless door locks was not working and the indicator self cancel not working so chipped the guy another 250 thinking new stalk and door handle (can’t change the button only on the Clio’s). Anyway, spent an hour with it tonight and the door lock turned out to be a low battery in the key remote, result. Took the indicator stalk off, found a couple of tiny springs kicking about in the steering console, put the stalk back together and hey presto. Small beer really I know, but put a smile on my face this rainy evening, another couple hundred in the pocket
  22. My day job is head of engineering for a large transport provider. I trade part time, it’s what I want to do full time, but need to build it up first.
