I KNEW when I was writing the story and penning the headlines that the San Storm with its 20 per cent profit would be an attractive proposition for dealers – but not even the distributor was expecting quite the response they had.
I had a call Wednesday morning – the first day magazines started to arrive in dealers – from the San UK marketing chief. He could not believe the response he’d received from those of you wanting a slice of the action.
By Wednesday lunchtime he’d spoken to 10 dealers, all desperate to get involved. Then I had another call Friday. ‘It’s just mad,’ said San’s Richard. ‘We’ve had more than 20 dealers call up, we’ve signed up six already to start selling the Storm and I’m going to be spending the next two weeks on the road visiting the others.’
It was always going to happen – offer dealers £2,000 profit per unit and they’re going to bite your hand off! But what fantastic news. It’s nice to know that the work we put into Car Dealer is paying off for our advertisers and at the same time you, the dealers, are getting something out of the magazine too.
