dsc_0002AFTER four days on the road and 1,700 miles, the Bangers4BEN 2011 teams have returned home.

More than 30 teams took part this year and each one blasted through France, through the Mont Blanc tunnel and into Italy to reach the home of Ferrari. Well, sort of…

We saw teams entering a wide variety of cars – there was a Fiat Seicento Sporting Michael Schumacher Edition, a Renault Espace A-Team van, three Alfa Romeos, a Fiat Coupe, a General Lee Vauxhall Omega, a Baywatch Vauxhall Frontera, a luxurious Hyundai and a Black Cab to name just a few.

That’s not to say there weren’t any dramas. Most notably our Ark Royal was only sea-worthy for two of the four days, and we had to give a lift home to the ACF Car Finance boys after their Volvo 850R’s fuel pump failed on day three. That’s not to mention the Car Dealer team and the AA Patrolmen getting stuck in a lift and having to climb out of it!

But there’s still the auction to go. On November 2 the cars will be auctioned off at Aston Barclay’s Chelmsford site and we’re hoping to hand a large wad of cash to BEN.

Our attentions have turned to next year’s event – we’re looking for some mad ideas for Bangers4BEN 2012. It’ll be the fifth year of the event and we want to do something special. So, if you do have any ideas then please let us know emailing the editor here.

And if you took part and would like to share any pictures or videos then please do so on the Facebook Group page which can be found here.

We’d like to thank BEN for helping to organise the event and the AA for all of their hard work.
