Time 2:22 am, April 7, 2008

CARDIF Pinnacle has acquired a majority shareholding in Warranty Direct Ltd, a leading provider of personal extended warranties that protect consumer’s cars and electrical appliances via its website www.warrantydirect.co.uk.

Both companies operate through affinity partners and motor dealers. Warranty Direct employs around 40 staff and is based in Reading.

The company will continue to operate as a stand-alone business from this location, building on its excellent reputation for providing first-class warranty products and services.

Paul Glen, CEO of Cardif Pinnacle, said: ‘The acquisition of Warranty Direct will significantly improve the service and product proposition we can offer to our dealer customers and direct to consumers. Our ability to accelerate the expansion of our warranty business is significantly enhanced by this acquisition.

‘The excellent service and expertise provided by the Warranty Direct team was a major factor in deciding to acquire this business. I congratulate both David and Duncan McClure Fisher (the MD of Warranty Direct) for building a robust team and business and look forward to working with Duncan as a member of my senior management team at Cardif Pinnacle.’

Duncan added: ‘I’m excited at the opportunity of working with Cardif Pinnacle early in the evolution of their strategy. I’m convinced that Cardif Pinnacle’s dealer and underwriting knowledge will complement Warranty Direct’s system and service capability.’
