The company has teamed up with buyyourcar.co.uk, giving dealers free online marketing for approved used cars.

Buyyourcar.co.uk, said to be the UK’s fastest-growing independent car sales website, allows dealers to upload all of their used stock onto the site for free.

This gives them extra exposure and search engine optimisation, including a strong presence on Google.

Michael Brown, Citroen UK’s head of vehicle remarketing, said: ‘In the current market, it is vital that car dealers maximise the potential of the internet. It is one of the fastest growing marketing channels for the car sales industry, and we want to ensure our Approved dealers are in a position to take full advantage of it.’

‘Citroen UK is committed to supporting our Approved network of used car dealers and we see the online market as key.’

The maker is the first manufacturer to team up with buyyourcar.co.uk, which will provide them with dedicated dealer pages, adverts featuring the cars’ full details, contact details and interactive maps, while using their online search expertise to attract traffic.

Over 80% of British people now start their search enquiries via Google. Daniel Philips, marketing manager of buyyourcar.co.uk, added: ‘We know that other major car manufacturers are seeing 75% of all their sales coming from online marketing, yet 75% of their budget is spent on offline marketing – the stats just don’t add up.’

‘This is inevitably going to have to change over the coming months, as budgets are re-aligned with what works best and what is a good investment.’
