G3 celebrates Nurses’ Day with £40,000 pledge

Time 9:39 am, May 10, 2019

CAR auction specialist G3 Remarketing has donated over £150,000 to support patient care at The Prince of Wales Hospice, with a further boost of £40,000 pledged this year to cover the cost of employing a nurse.

The news of this £40,000 donation was made during the run-up to International Nurses Day held annually on 12 May.

With this year’s theme being ‘join the UK’s biggest nursing party’, staff from G3 took the opportunity to visit the Hospice this week to join in with the Nurses Day celebrations and meet their nursing team.

The donation is the latest in a series of fundraising drives from G3, which first began in 2010 when joint director Matt Dale completed four marathons and an ultra-marathon to raise valuable funds for the Hospice. The firm has continued to take this support even further, donated over £150,000 as a whole to the worthy cause.

Jo Benson, nurse manager at the hospice, said: ‘It was fantastic to welcome staff from G3 at the hospice to celebrate our amazing healthcare team with a Nurses Day party.

‘Our nurses are dedicated to providing quality care to patients with life-limiting illnesses all year round. We’re so grateful to G3 for recognising this and for pledging such a generous donation to support our work.’

The funds supplied by G3 over the past two years made extra money available elsewhere at the hospice, allowing the nurses to care for more people with complex conditions. The team has also begun replacing all beds with high tech models that can be programmed to allow patients to turn and move more freely around their rooms while reducing the number of falls.

Commenting on the drive behind G3’s continued support, director Matt Dale said: ‘Everyone at G3 is committed to supporting The Prince of Wales Hospice and with this being their 30th year we wanted to help them celebrate the events taking place during Nurses Week.

‘I have first-hand experience of the amazing support the Hospice gives to patients and their families so it’s great for me and the team to offer a pair of hands to the nurses and honour their amazing work in the local community we operate in. The team at G3 is looking forward to working with the hospice throughout their 2019 anniversary with a number of events planned to help raise awareness and valuable donations to enable them to continue their important work.’
