CDX CDX 2018 News

Get back to basics, learn how to spot a lemon and list stock like a pro with Car Sales 101 at CDX 2018

Time 8:58 am, May 17, 2018

IN A first for the car sales industry at CDX, four suppliers will give an in-depth workshop on how to effectively appraise and list a car for sale.

Called Car Sales 101, the sessions will be held three times a day and on both days of Europe’s largest motor trade expo at Manchester Central later this month.

Delegates can expect an interactive and informative display on how to get the most from new stock.

Experts from Cap HPI, Manheim, GardX and Auto Trader will explain best-practice techniques when it comes to buying and selling cars. They will take you through the process with an actual car, checking its history, valuing it correctly, appraising it at auction or remotely, capturing the right images and then creating adverts to attract potential buyers.

To be held within the expo hall at the Appraisal Workshop Zone, our experts will take you around the vehicle pointing out some of the less obvious things that might pass dealers by, with the sessions taking place  at 10.30am, midday and 2pm on May 21 and 22.

The appraisal begins with Cap HPI and the important checks dealers should be doing before investing any more time in the appraisal or purchasing process. Data has never been a more important tool for dealers, and those at the workshop will find out how to interpret and interrogate a provenance check, remotely check a vehicle’s spec and understand valuations and adjustments.

Having carried out the relevant and necessary checks, then it will be time to get hands-on with the car. Auction giants Manheim will explain how it appraises a vehicle for sale, how it is classified in its grading assessment, and provide advice on how to properly and accurately appraise a vehicle either online or at the auction.

Now you have the car, you need to do it justice in your adverts. Unless you can effectively market your new stock to appeal to consumers, all the hard work you have done so far will have been for nothing.

Fewer consumers are making the forecourt their first stop so it is essential that your stock stands out online, and imagery is key to achieving maximum return. Here, GardX will explain which pictures generate more leads.

Listing well-crafted adverts, with all the info a consumer wants, is essential in converting online browsers into leads and buyers. For the final stage of the journey, experts from the UK’s largest classified platform Auto Trader will share their vast insight into what makes a great advert and how to not only stand out from the competition, but to convert browsers into buyers, with top tips on how to write a classified that really stands out and makes your business the one that customers come to.
