Motorpoint staff raise £680 for charity by taking to the streets of Burnley

MOTORPOINT staff have raised £680 for their charity partner Lancashire Mind by pounding the streets of Burnley.

Staff from the East Lancashire branch of the UK’s largest independent car retailer, which has a 10-acre branch in Rosegrove Lane in the town, swapped their suits for running shoes when they joined 2,000 other athletes taking part in the Burnley 10k last month.

Based in Chorley, Mind Lancashire is a mental health charity that works in partnership with others to provide training and support, and campaigns locally to make residents’ mental well-being a priority.

Motorpoint partnered with Lancashire Mind earlier this year after a long-standing relationship with Pendleside Hospice.

Cliff Graham, general manager of Motorpoint in Burnley, said: ‘I would like to say a big thank you to all of my colleagues who took part in the Burnley 10k.

‘Even though it was a real challenge for many of us it was still great fun, and the best bit about the whole day was that we raised lots of money to support the work of Lancashire Mind.’

The Motorpoint team are planning more fund-raising activities for Lancashire Mind in 2018, including sponsorship of the charity’s hugely popular Mental Elf 5k fun run in December.
