VAUXHALL has confirmed that its Geneva Motor Show star – the Zafira Tourer concept – has been given the go-ahead.
Called the Zafira Tourer, the new model will sit above the current Zafira model in Vauxhall’s line-up and is set to raise the bar for design, luxury, flexibility and innovation in the MPV sector.
The firm is keen to point out that the production version – shown in the images here – differs very little from the concept.
One feature which has very much remained from the Geneva concept is the interior ‘ambience’, says Vauxhall. Like the concept, the firm’s trademark Flex7 seating will remain and so will an emphasis on cabin space to define the Tourer from the otherwise ordinary Zafira.
Two new engines will be available. A 1.4 Turbo petrol and a 2.0 CDTi diesel (with three outputs) – join a 1.8-litre petrol unit to offer a spread of power options from 108bhp to 165bhp.
The first cars should be in Vauxhall dealers from the beginning of 2012.
