Motor trade renewal price

Can I ask what other traders are paying? I’ve been trading for 25 years and every year seems to be getting more expensive. Yes I know everything goes up but this year it has nearly doubled. No claims or convictions , it’s getting beyond belief.  It’s not as though I’ve claimed or stock dozens of cars. I’m a one man band now after scaling down over the last few years but insurance just continues to rise. This year I’ve seen the biggest increase. What’s the norm?

It'll always increase, shop around, find the best quote and ask your current providers to beat it, best chance of getting it down.

My insurance went up to £4,300 this year with Aviva. Their excuse, my current whip.

Going with NIG (including current smoker) for £2,600.

Sounds a lot but that is not much more than my monthly AT bill - so represents good value when you consider AT is optional and insurance is not.

Mines is about £2200 and my friends who is on a much bigger scale is about £4800 so depends on value of cars size of business what's covered etc I wouldn't think there would be an average though be interesting to see

Our broker has made a mistake an had us down as a sole trader even though we have been a Ltd company for years so we had to start again on zero bonus this year and I think we are circa 6k:blink:

Thats for our 2 units, yard, 2 transporters, two staff for work use, myself and my partner for work and sdp and my brother for work and sdp.

Hoping it goes down a bit next year!

Remember saying on here before but guy I used to work for all be it over 15 years ago he was worth a right few quid at the time had a policy which covered him for trade use by any employee employed or self employed worked for him friend relative or acquaintance of him for trade use and sdp as long as they had his permission to any value of vehicle with no age restrictions the apprentice at the time was picking up vr six golfs

i wouldnt have believed it had i not seen it to tax a car one day but wouldn't like to think what he was paying .

There Is just so many different options I don't think there will ever be a set price or average even going by this post it seems it varies a lot

Sounds like my policy but it does restrict under 25’s and relatives (my choice).

No way would i be having that.

That,s a serious ENO (Error and Omission) I would be after some compo for that. Mention the magical Financial Ombudsman Service.

Partly my fault also however for not proof reading the documents they sent through. I have sent an email of complaint though.
