IF you’ve been waiting for a closer look at the soon-to-be launched Focus RS – then check this out!
Car Dealer has been trawling the world wide web and found this cool new video of the car that hot hatch fans can’t wait to get their hands on.
Produced by Ford, the video gives a closer look at the £25k RS that will hit dealer showrooms in March.
Ford says the 2.5-litre turbocharged model will dash to 62mph in ‘under 6 seconds’ and on to a maximum of ‘over 160mph’.
Based on the ST, the Focus RS uses the five-cylinder hot hatch’s front-drive engine layout, but engineers have fitted a special ‘RevoKnuckle’ front suspension.
This, along with a Quaife limited-slip differential, allows the Focus RS’s considerable power (and 440Nm of torque) to be put down without wheelspin or torque steer.
It also helps keep the list price below the £25k mark.
19-inch alloys and a unique twin-blade rear spoiler will mark the RS out. It also has a special bonnet, front bumper and side skirts. Inside, there are Recaro seats in the front, with side bolsters coloured to match the body colour.
It’s offered in three colours – Ultimate Green, Performance Blue or Frozen White.
Test drives will be starting early in 2009, and over 1000 orders have already been placed.
