BEN appoints president

Time 8:13 am, October 24, 2008

JOE Greenwell was last night elected to the office of president of BEN.

The Ford of Europe vice president, governmental affairs, received the presidency at the charity’s AGM. He takes over from Christopher Macgowan.

‘I have been involved with BEN for many years,’ said Greenwell, ‘and I do believe that the industry should do everything it can to support and raise the profile of this worthy cause, which was created specifically for care for our community.

‘When I was first approached about taking up the presidency, I looked back at a list of previous incumbents. It is a list of distinguished names, and I feel very proud to be asked to continue their legacy. I am totally committed to ensure that every member of our community knows about BEN, the services it provides and the support it needs.’

Christopher Macgowan, interim chief executive of BEN, added: ‘Joe is recognised as one of the most respected and dedicated leaders of the industries we encompass, and it is an honour for BEN to have someone of his calibre to advocate our case.

‘I am delighted to have the opportunity to work alongside him during the term of his presidency, and believe his involvement will make a positive contribution to the future of BEN.’
