Crunch-defying salesman!

THIS sounds a good business to be in. A salesman has just set a sales record for a British company, moving nine units in a day – and 22 in a week.

What’s his secret? He’s selling caravans! And while it may not be the most obvious business to get into, we highlight it because it could just present you with an interesting opportunity.

Salop Leisure salesman George Harris broke the record at last week’s International Caravan and Motorhome Show at the NEC. The value of the vans he moved prove that not everyone is credit-crunched, either.

Prices ranged from £15,000 to £20,000.

Even Harris was surprised. ‘Most of the sales were to existing customers who were looking to update their caravan.’

But – and here’s the opportunity – he also added an observation. ‘What I discovered at the show was that people with investments were frightened of losing their money, so they were treating themselves.’

‘With the value of sterling against other currencies weakening, there is also a growing trend for people to plan holidays in the UK next year, rather than flying abroad.’

So there you have it. If you want to diversify, get into caravans. Swift, Ace, Abbey and others will, we’re sure, be delighted to speak with you…and if you want to find out more, the show runs at the NEC until Sunday 2 November.
