1st Institute graduates

Time 6:49 am, December 30, 2008

HONDA’S first round of Leadership Programme dealers have just graduated from the award-winning institute.

Dealer principals and line managers have to attend up to 15 months of courses and seminars to qualify.

This gives them leadership skills, with focus in key areas for car dealers:

• Personal effectiveness
• Managing and leading people
• Delivering outcomes

Currently, 205 Honda employees are signed up for the course – one that’s more important than ever in the current economic climate, says Institute learning and development manager, Ian Whitely.

‘Good leadership skills are essential to prosper and grow, and in challenging times, these skills become even more critical.

‘Our leadership programme is making people more effective in how they lead their teams, and is delivering tangible business improvement and enhanced customer experience.’

The end of the programme was marked by a 2-day Premier Leadership conference, which 82 attendees throughout the car dealer network attended.

Experts included a former Commander of UN Forces and an NLP Master Practitioner. They briefed DPs on how to lead and motivate their teams even more effectively. Delegates also got to hear first-hand how other organisations manage change in their environment.
