Corby Ford dealer opens

Time 8:32 am, November 7, 2008

CAMDEN Retail opened its latest Ford dealer in Corby with a bang last weekend.

The three-acre site was the subject of a ‘flurry’ of press activity, and there was no missing the action – not least thanks to a huge blimp flying above the new retailer!

General manager Harry Pankhania was overwhelmed with the response. ‘Undoubtedly, it is a tough time to be opening such a sizeable new dealership, but the weekend was an amazing success.

‘The people from Corby know our reputation for recession busting deals, but more than that, they responded to the investment Camden has made to the area.’

More than 20 new jobs have been created, for what Camden says is one of Europe’s largest multi-franchise Ford dealerships. The dealer boasts a seven-car showroom, 100-car used forecourt, and the capacity to handle new and used commercials, too.

There is also a large aftersales division.

The opening was perfectly timed to coincide with the launch of the new Fiesta. ‘As a sneak preview, we were able to secure a batch of the new models,’ said Pankhania.

‘They practically drove themselves out of the showroom – we sold nine just from the launch weekend!

‘The weekend was as much about raising awareness as anything, so we are delighted that the offers proved so successful. This is the first Ford dealership in Corby for over ten years, and it seems the public’s appetite for the brand has not been diminished, despite the economic downturn.’
