mumfordPLYMOUTH dealer Mumfords has been sold to Vospers for an undisclosed sum after going into administration.

Mumfords held the Renault and Nissan vehicle franchises in Plympton and employed around 60 staff. This year marked 100 years of Mumfords trading.

The business and majority of assets of the company were sold to Vospers, a dealership network operating in the Devon and Cornwall area, with the majority of staff transferring to the new company, reports the insidermedia.com website.

Administrators at BDO were appointed and presided over the sale.

Simon Girling, BDO business restructuring partner, told the website: ‘Mumfords was exposed to difficulties in the motor retail sector. I am delighted that the majority of jobs have been saved and the business can move forward under the security of the Vospers brand.’
