A family-owned business, it’s been going since 1919, and employs eight staff. The deal with Daihatsu will see it selling both new and used models.

Dealer principal, Donald Duncan, said: ‘We are delighted to be appointed to a franchise that is synonymous with reliable, low-polluting and economical compact cars.

‘Despite the difficult economic climate, we hope to not only generate repeat business from satisfied customers, but also to win new converts.’

One of eight new dealers signed up by the maker in 2008, Quenby is part of plans to take the 120-strong network up to 140 retailers.

Paul Tunnicliffe, MD, Daihatsu Vehicle Distributors Ltd, said: ‘For us, the dealer creates opportunities in the marketplace regardless of where they are located. With ever-increasing fuel costs and tighter budgets, the dealers are the key to the fortune of Daihatsu in the UK.’

And, with help by Daihatsu’s range-wide five-year warranty, they’re having some effect. Sales to-date are up by over 16 per cent…
