One of eight new dealers the importer has signed up so far this year, it’s part of the brand’s plans to boost its network from 120 to 140.

N.T. Shaw has a three-decade history, and employs 15 staff. It will sell both new and used Daihatsus alongside its existing franchise.

Proprietor, Nigel Shaw said: ‘We are delighted to be appointed to a franchise that is synonymous with reliable, low-polluting and economical compact cars.’

‘Despite the difficult economic climate, we hope to not only generate repeat business from satisfied customers but also to win new converts.’

Paul Tunnicliffe, MD of Daihatsu, added: ‘For us, the dealer creates opportunities in the marketplace regardless of where they are located. With ever-increasing fuel costs and tighter budgets, the dealers are the key to the fortune of Daihatsu in the UK.’

Such recruitments, along with Daihatsu’s 08 introduction of a five-year warranty, has so far helped mark up a 16 per cent sales boost.
