CAP says a key attraction of the new model, which Hyundai launches in Janaury, is its 5 year warranty.
This, says the used car analysts, will be a big draw to used car buyers.
An entry-level i20 Classic will retain 47 per cent after 3 years. Hyundai has used CAP data to outline how this compares to its equivalent rivals:
• 5 per cent more than the equivalent Ford Fiesta
• 12 per cent more than the equivalent Vauxhall Corsa
• 12 per cent more than the equivalent Renault Clio
What’s more, in April, Hyundai will launch the diesel-powered 1.4 CRDi i20. This will retain even more: 49 per cent after three years.
The secret, says Hyundai UK marketing director Andrew Cullis, is in honing the car to customers’ desires.
‘The i20’s standard spec combines all of the things that buyers want, such as remote central locking, air conditioning, electric front windows and an iPod jack in the stereo, but none of the things they don’t.
He also points to the car’s excellent quality, but underlines that a key factor is the 5 year warranty. This was, he says, behind Hyundai dealer’s official used car scheme being voted top by Auto Express magazine.
Hyundai dealers will welcome the new model from early January. Prices start at £8195.
