DEALER group Pendragon is planning to axe 190 jobs this year despite returning a profit in 2009.
Car Dealer reported this week how the dealer group made a profit of £10.1m last year compared to a loss of £33.6m the year before.
But now The Mirror has reported the group – which trades in the UK as Evans Halshaw, Stratsone and Chatfields – plans to close nine showrooms.
Which ones these are is as yet unclear, but comes as a hammer blow to the staff in a year that was supposed to mark the end of the recession.
Last year the group closed 26 showrooms resulting in 879 people losing their jobs.
