Seat reveals new Toledo

Time 6:49 am, June 27, 2012

SPANISH brand Seat has taken the covers off its new Toledo and revealed it’ll be on sale early next year.

The new car is the third-ever Seat to wear the Toledo name – and this generation is the sister car to the Skoda Rapid.

‘The new Toledo will write a whole new success story with its clear Seat identity, its high quality standard and its extraordinary value-for-money,’ said James Muir, president of Seat, S.A.

‘The Toledo combines great design with amazing practicality and dynamic driving fun with excellent efficiency. This is how we envisage the perfect saloon. Our customers will say: ‘That is a great car at a great price!’’

New Toledo will intially be launched in Spain and Portugal this November, but UK customers will have to wait until early 2013 to get their hands on the new Seat.

Despite its compact look, the new Toledo is four centimetres longer than the outgoing version – which was more of an MPV-like offering.

And, like its sister car the Rapid, it may appear to have been designed with a boot, the Toledo actually has a hatchback layout.

The new Toledo can be ordered with a 1.2 or a 1.4-litre petrol unit, and a 1.6-litre TDI unit.

They’ll also be petrol and diesel Ecomotive variants and later in 2013 Toledo customers will be able to choose between another diesel unit too.

A seven-speed dual-shift gearbox (DSG) is offered in combination with the most powerful petrol variants.

Full UK pricing and specifications will be announced later in the year.
