Highly commended in this year’s Car Dealer Power category for Provenance Checks 2026 was Cap HPI.

The data specialist’s HPI Check is one of the best-known provenance tools in the motor trade, trusted by dealers and consumers to give confidence in the vehicle information they rely on.

A spokesperson for Cap HPI told Car Dealer: ‘It always means an awful lot to us. The Car Dealer Power Awards are based on feedback from dealers, so to be recognised by the people who use our products day in, day out, and to be trusted by them, is genuinely appreciated.

‘It’s a nice moment for the whole team at Cap HPI, who work tirelessly to ensure the accuracy of our data, and a great reminder that the work we do around trusted data, accuracy and vehicle provenance really matters to the trade. We can provide traceability on all our data points, and that means a lot to us.’

The spokesperson said the awards mattered because they gave every dealer a voice.

‘There are lots of suppliers in the market, so awards like these help show who dealers feel is really supporting them in practice,’ they said. ‘For us, that makes the recognition especially meaningful.’

The past year has been one of continued innovation and investment, with enhancements to HPI Check including a new methodology for incorporating salvage markers and incident data.

‘We have also continued to invest in responsible data partnerships and in the accuracy, quality and timeliness of our data, from vehicle description management through to finance insertions and deletions,’ the spokesperson said. ‘Through SafetyNet, we also continue to support the industry by helping ensure vehicles are recorded onto Navigate in a timely way.’

Looking ahead, the company said its focus remained on delivering trusted, high-quality data.

‘We will keep investing in innovation, strengthening relationships with approved data providers, and helping dealers and consumers make decisions with the most accurate and transparent vehicle information possible,’ they added.
