eStar Truck & Van managing director Steve Bridge is to leave the business at the end of the year, just months after its acquisition by Daimler Truck UK.
Bridge will step down on December 31 following what the company describes as a ‘mutually agreed transition’, bringing an end to almost six years at the helm of the Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicle retailer.
He will remain in the commercial vehicle sector, taking up an independent advisory role from January 2027.
The move comes after Daimler Truck UK acquired eStar in May this year, bringing the retailer into its manufacturer-owned network.
Bridge joined eStar in February 2021, shortly after the business had taken over the former Mercedes-Benz market area partner following a period of trading difficulties.
Over the following five years, he oversaw the development of the business into a profitable Mercedes-Benz Trucks and Vans retailer.
His departure comes as eStar prepares for its next stage of development under Daimler Truck ownership.
Commenting on his decision, Bridge said: ‘I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved together at eStar.
‘With the business now well positioned for its next chapter, this is the right time for me to begin a new one of my own and use my experience in an advisory capacity across the industry.’
In his new role, Bridge will provide strategic and leadership support to businesses and senior figures across the commercial vehicle industry.
He will remain in charge of eStar until the end of December to oversee the transition.
The company has yet to name his successor, with an announcement expected in due course.
