Dealer group JCT600 has confirmed talks are ongoing with staff amid speculation it could be about to close one of its biggest sites.
The Telegraph & Argus reports that a source had claimed the group’s Sticker Lane plot in Bradford would shut on November 30, describing a potential closure as a ‘sad day’ for the city.
The site includes BMW, Audi, Lotus and Maserati showrooms and is a major part of the group’s retail network in its home city.
Bosses have now confirmed that they are consulting staff over possible changes to its dealership operations but stopped short of announcing a full closure.
A spokesman for the family-run firm said it was too early to comment on specific proposals while its consultation process is ongoing.
‘We are aware of speculation regarding potential changes to some of our Sticker Lane, Bradford, operations,’ the group said in a statement.
‘Our colleagues are our number one priority, and we are currently engaged in a formal consultation process with those individuals potentially impacted, and until that process has been completed, it would not be appropriate to comment on specific proposals.
‘We remain committed to communicating openly with colleagues and will provide further information publicly once the consultation process has concluded.’
BMW has also commented on the situation, as it looks to reassure customers across the region.
A spokesman for the brand said: ‘As an independent business, JCT600 is best placed to comment on its own operations.
‘We can however reassure BMW and Mini customers in Bradford that they will continue to have access to aftersales support through our authorised repairer network across the region.’
