The prestigious Extra Mile Award for 2026 goes to Lawgistics, with dealers recognising the legal specialist’s unwavering support, practical guidance and trusted advice.
Unlike the other Car Dealer Power categories, the Extra Mile Award celebrates a supplier that consistently goes above and beyond for its customers – and Lawgistics’ reputation for helping dealers navigate legal challenges, alongside its regular blogs and industry updates, clearly struck a chord with voters.
Managing director Joel Combes said the award was particularly special because it came directly from dealers who use the company’s services every day.
‘I couldn’t believe it when I first received the email saying we’d won it,’ he told Car Dealer.
‘This isn’t voted for or judged by a panel of experts looking at what’s written and what’s seen. This is voted by the people who experience our service and what we deliver.
‘So this is the most prestigious award we can win.’
He added: ‘We honestly were taken off the ball with this one because we’re working on some different projects.
‘But our clients have voted for us and we’ve won it again 11 years after we first did.
‘So it very much feels like, yes, we’ve won, but we’re also bringing it home!’
The award reflects the growing role Lawgistics plays in helping dealers stay on top of an increasingly complex legal landscape.
Alongside its telephone advice service, the company has become known across the industry for its regular blogs, legal updates and guidance notes, helping dealers prepare for changes in legislation long before they arrive.
Combes said that commitment to educating the industry has been at the heart of the business for almost two decades.
‘We started that in 2008 and we really didn’t think it had any traction until 2015 when the Consumer Rights Act came in,’ he said.
‘It was at that moment that we realised we had a job to do in the industry and that was to keep people informed.
‘So we started looking ahead at law changes.
‘We’re quite unique in what we do because we solve legal problems and there’s nobody else with the intellectual capital that we’ve built over that time.
‘So really we’re just doing our job.
‘It’s lovely to hear that feedback because we are doing what we have set out to do. This is recognition of that from the people that really matter.’
That support has seen Lawgistics grow dramatically since first winning a Car Dealer Power Award in 2015.
Back then, the business had around 500 to 600 clients, fewer than 20 employees and just five legal advisers.
Today it employs more than 40 people, including 17 legal advisers, supports around 2,500 dealer groups representing approximately 5,000 dealerships and also operates helplines for several industry federations and major buying groups.
‘I feel incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved over that time and even find myself pinching myself at where we are today,’ Combes said.
Dealers are having to confront new legal challenges especially in the form of AI, said Combes.
But despite this, Combes said winning the Extra Mile Award showed the company’s focus had never changed.
‘I’m incredibly proud that we’re still delivering the service that we were recognised for 11 years ago.’
