Motorpoint is set to close its Ipswich used car supermarket site later this month, after just three-and-a-half years of trading.
The used car retailer has confirmed its West End Road branch, will cease trading over the coming weeks, although an exact date is yet to be confirmed.
The closure was first reported by the Ipswich Star, which said the company had not provided a reason for the decision.
The dealership first opened in May 2023 as Motorpoint looked to expand its reach in the East of England.
When it opened, the site became the retailer’s 20th UK store and marked its first move into Suffolk.
The move created around 30 new roles and employees have now raised concerns about potential job losses as a result of the upcoming closure.
The nearest Motorpoint site will now be around 50 miles away in Norwich and the firm has committed to contacting customers impacted by the decision.
The spokesman said: ‘Motorpoint Ipswich will be closing later this month.
‘We would like to thank all our customers and will be reaching out to those impacted by this change.
‘All 21 of our other stores remain open.’
Car Dealer reported last month that Motorpoint had upgraded its profit expectations after stronger-than-anticipated trading.
The firm now expects to make a pre-tax profit of between £9.8m and £10.8m in the year ending March 31, 2027.
