Nissan’s Electric Encounters Live tour of UK dealerships has reached the half-way point.
Organised by Nissan to showcase the brand new Leaf and Micra EVs, the tour has visited dozens of Nissan showrooms across the country during its first few weeks on the road, and the tour will continue its travels until the end of January.
One of the most recent event days took place at FJ Chalke Nissan Yeovil. Dealership colleagues were fascinated to learn all about the new cars, and dozens of potential and existing customers called into the showroom in Lysander Road to check them out for themselves.
Matthew Newham, sales manager, said: ‘We were incredibly excited to host the Nissan Electric Encounters Live tour, which really did deliver on its promise of offering a closer, more interactive look at next-generation mobility.
‘It was much more than the unveiling of the two cars – it provided a chance for members of our local communities to experience the future of electric motoring in an engaging and immersive way.
‘We loved welcoming everyone and sharing our excitement about all-new Leaf and Micra. It was a real celebration!’
Guests enjoyed a vibrant array of entertainment and a retro-style grabber machine proved popular, especially with one lucky customer who won a Google Nest device. Other prizes included charging cables, air fresheners, sticker packs and funky Nissan lip balms.
There was also fresh popcorn, pick ’n’ mix sweets and a selection of Japanese-inspired snacks available. A creative colouring wall kept many visitors occupied while an AI-powered photo booth let attendees transform themselves into fun, personalised, high-tech portraits.
The stars of the show, of course, were the cars themselves. Since the first edition of the Leaf made its debut in 2010, it has sold close to 700,000 units worldwide, earning its place in history as the world’s first mass-market electric vehicle.
Now, Nissan is ushering in a new chapter for the nameplate, re-designed and re-engineered.
Meanwhile, all-new Micra returns as a fully connected, pure EV. Like Leaf, Micra also offers the latest safety technology and Google Built-In.
Newham said: ‘Customers were blown away by the bold new design of the all-new Nissan Micra and extremely excited about the arrival of all-new Leaf. The future of electric motoring has never looked more exciting – and this is only the beginning.
‘A huge thank you to everyone who attended our Electric Encounters day and helped to make the occasion so memorable.’
