Around 40 senior BYD representatives descended on a Glyn Hopkin dealership last month as part of a major review of the Chinese manufacturer’s international retail operations.
The dealer group’s St Albans site welcomed the large delegation in October, with senior executives travelling from across Europe and China to inspect the facility.
Among those in attendance were BYD’s European director Cokey Huang, UK aftersales director Maurizio Pisano and national aftersales manager Hugo Ge.
The visit saw representatives from BYD’s central team in China join their European and UK colleagues for a review of the dealership’s operations.
The delegation carried out a mini audit of the site, inspecting its workshop facilities, specialist tooling and equipment, branding and signage.
Executives also assessed whether the dealership was meeting BYD’s minimum operating standards, as part of a wider initiative to ensure consistency across the manufacturer’s growing international network.
Glyn Hopkin currently represents BYD at seven dealerships across the UK, with sites in Ipswich, Colchester, Chelmsford, Romford, St Albans, Waltham Abbey and East London.

The visit comes as BYD continues to expand its UK dealership network, placing increasing emphasis on aftersales capabilities and consistent standards across its retail partners.
Alongside BYD, Glyn Hopkin represents six other manufacturers, including Nissan, MG, Kia, Omoda & Jaecoo, Chery and Geely.
