Dealer group Arnold Clark has become the latest retailer to sign up to represent Chinese outfit Geely in the UK.

The Car Dealer Top 100 table-topper has announced a new partnership with the manufacturer, which will see it sell the brand’s cars at four branches across England.

The deal initially includes branches in Huddersfield, Stourbridge, Chertsey and Carlisle, with Geely becoming Arnold Clark’s 35th brand partner.

Confirming the news, Gavin McKenzie, group brand director at Arnold Clark, said: ‘We are thrilled to welcome Geely to the Arnold Clark family.

‘As a brand renowned for forward-thinking design and innovation, the Geely EX5 is already proving to be very popular and has received great feedback.

‘We look forward to bringing Geely’s exciting products to drivers across the UK and welcoming customers to our new branches.’

Since opening its first UK dealership just two months ago, Geely has been growing its retail network at a rapid rate.

Car Dealer reported earlier this year that Geely would be launching in the UK as a standalone brand, despite already owning Volvo, Polestar and Lotus here.

Sales of the brand’s first UK model – the EX5 electric C-segment SUV – are now underway, with Geely leaning on Lotus to get their cars ready for UK roads.

Speaking earlier this year, Lee Jeffcoat, commercial director at Lotus Engineering, added: ‘As a global leader in vehicle dynamics, Lotus Engineering was proud to be asked by a Geely partner company to give our expert opinion on the Geely EX5.

‘Our world-class experts and access to advanced facilities meant we could provide an independent assessment of the Geely EX5’s dynamics, performance in class and potential Europe-specific tuning before it goes on sale in the UK.’
