The Aston Barclay name has officially disappeared after all five of the firm’s sites were rebranded under the BCA banner.
The move comes after BCA owner Constellation Automotive Group’s drawn out takeover of Aston Barclay was finally approved earlier this year, paving the way for full integration of the auction locations.
The outfit’s remarketing centres in Chelmsford, Donington Park, Prees Heath, Wakefield, and Westbury have all now joined the BCA network, giving customers the option to attend and, or access sales through BCA Online and the BCA Buyer app.
Confirming the news, Stuart Pearson, BCA COO, said: ‘We are delighted to welcome the former Aston Barclay sites into the BCA family and would like to thank all colleagues involved for their hard work, dedication and patience throughout the transition.
‘A great deal of planning has taken place to make the move as smooth as possible, and we are grateful to our sellers, buyers and suppliers for working with us and supporting the transition process.’
BCA’s deal for Aston Barclay had been put on hold after the Competition and Markets Authority launched an ‘in-depth phase 2 investigation’, amid fears that the agreement could hand BCA an ‘unassailable market position’.
The CMA had previously said that Aston Barclay had been facing financial difficulties and would have likely shut down if a buyer had not been found.
In a previous report, the body said that without the deal ‘Aston Barclay would likely have exited the market’ due to financial challenges.
The deal was eventually rubber stamped back in March.
Speaking after the sites were rebranded, Pearson added: ‘The former Aston Barclay centres will continue to offer both physical in-lane bidding and online auctions using BCA’s established operating processes and systems, providing customers with access to extensive services and flexibility as we look to grow their sales programmes and drive performance across the network.
‘BCA remains committed to growth, and the investment in these new locations has helped to secure a significant number of remarketing roles in the industry and will also provide our customers with greater choice, efficiency and opportunity.’
