While the Electric Car Grant continues to boost new EV registrations, the sale of used electric vehicles remains a challenge for dealers.
With prices continuing to fall, the sector ranks among the most unpredictable and our Used EV Dealership award aims to celebrate the firms that are best at negotiating those choppy waters.
Our two highly commended firms – EV Experts and R Symons – both wowed our mystery shoppers and put in incredible performances in a tough marketplace this year.
However, our winner blew our judges away with their in depth knowledge and top quality customer service.
Based in Somerset, Drive Green was founded by Richard Norris in 2017 and now bills itself as ‘the UK’s largest EV specialist’.
Norris previously worked in the stainable living and renewable energy sector and says his unique journey into the motor trade is helping his current business to thrive.
This marks the second year in a row that the firm has scooped this award and Norris says the success comes down to hard work and ‘following best practice’.
He also backed 2026 to be the year that the used EV market ‘turns a corner’ after a difficult few years for the sector.
Reacting to his win, he told Car Dealer: ‘It feels great and honestly I wasn’t expecting it.
‘There is so much more competition now in our space that I thought to pick this up for a second year running might be pushing it but I am genuinely chuffed to bits.
‘We just follow best practice and try really hard to do a good job. We’ve got eight years of just selling EVs and I think because of that it means we are still ahead of everyone else.
‘I think 2026 could be the year where the used EV market turns a corner. We’ve seen a more stable second half of this year, all the key indicators are looking good and I think we’re past a tipping point where naturally everyone will be buying an EV.’
After the awards, Car Dealer editor-in-chief, James Baggott was on hand to offer his own congratulations.
