Car dealers are increasingly relying on data to make key decisions for their businesses, which is why this award matters.

Taking the highly commended gongs for 2026 are JATO and Experian, while coming out on top is Cazana.

The Car Dealer Power award comes just months after the business returned to the automotive sector under its original Cazana brand, having more recently been known as Percayso Vehicle Intelligence.

Cazana managing director Ian Lilley said the win was particularly pleasing as the company is only just beginning to rebuild its presence in the dealer market.

‘We’re delighted, to be honest,’ he told Car Dealer. ‘We haven’t really pushed into the motor dealer space yet with any earnestness, but that’s going to start in the next couple of weeks. So to have this recognition already is fantastic. I’m really pleased for the whole team.’

Lilley believes the company’s greatest strength is the vast amount of historical vehicle data it has amassed over the past 13 years.

‘Why is data important? You can’t replicate historical data,’ he said.

‘We’ve got over a billion previous vehicle adverts that they can refer to.

‘The valuations are based on not only the 900,000 cars that we pull in every day, but all the historical values that are in there.

‘So, yeah, data drives everything, and it can’t be replicated, which is why it’s called a moat.’

The award marks a significant turnaround for the business, which neither won nor received a Highly Commended accolade in last year’s Car Dealer Power Awards.

Lilley said the progress reflected the company’s renewed focus on the automotive retail sector.

‘When we first got the business from Cazoo, we were concentrating on the insurance sector because that’s what the parent company is in,’ he said.

‘It’s only been in the last 12 to 18 months that we’ve started looking to get back into automotive.

‘We’ve been concentrating on getting some good partners together. We employ some great consultants that are well known throughout the industry.

‘We know we’ve got a service and a package that people like, so it’s just starting to get the name out there now.’

Looking ahead, Lilley said dealers can expect to hear much more from Cazana as it formally launches its latest offering to the motor trade.

‘We’re about to launch in the next couple of weeks, which will make a big splash,’ he said.

‘A lot of dealers who probably don’t know about us will start to see what we have to offer.’
