Chery is preparing to launch four new and updated models in the UK over the next 12 months as it looks to build on a rapid start to life in the British market.

The Chinese manufacturer says the product offensive will include its first fully electric model, alongside upgrades to its existing Chery Super Hybrid plug-in hybrid technology.

Chery only began selling cars in the UK in August 2025 but says it has already registered more than 29,000 vehicles and secured a market share of more than 2.5%.

The latest launches will see the brand enter new segments as it attempts to maintain that momentum.

Electrification will be central to the expansion, with larger batteries set to be introduced for models using Chery’s Super Hybrid system.

The technology is currently available across the Tiggo 4, 7, 8 and 9 ranges, with the planned upgrades expected to deliver longer electric-only ranges as well as reduced fuel consumption and emissions.

Chery says models fitted with the hybrid system currently account for 75% of its UK registrations.

Farrell Hsu, managing director of Chery UK, said: ‘The performance of the Chery brand in the UK in its first year has exceeded our expectations, and the whole team is extremely proud of what’s been achieved in such a short time.

‘We also know how competitive the UK market is, and that’s why we’ll be launching four new and enhanced models over the next 12 months – including our first EV and upgraded Chery Super Hybrid vehicles.

‘The investments we’re making in electrification will ensure that we continue to build our brand, appeal to even more customers than before, and ensure our long-term strategic growth.’

The product expansion comes as Chery also invests in its UK engineering operations.

The firm is establishing a new R&D Centre of Excellence at the UTAC Millbrook proving ground in Bedfordshire, where engineers will work on product development specifically for UK customers.

Chery says the facility will help it better understand the market and speed up the introduction of product improvements, new features and functions.
