Chinese newcomer brand Aion has revealed its second model for the UK market.
Called UT, the new electric supermini is an MG4 and Renault 5 rival, and is expected to go on sale next month.
It gets 60kWh battery capable of delivering up to 268 miles of range. In addition, fast charging capability means that it can go from 10 to 80% charge in around 30 minutes.
Hooked up to a 201bhp electric motor, the UT can go from 0-60mph in around seven seconds.
As standard, the UT comes with a high level of equipment including heated front seats, a 14.6-inch infotainment system and a 360-degree around-view camera. Just one option is available – the Premium Pack – which adds a panoramic sunroof, powered tailgate and wireless phone charging.
Jon Wakefield, managing director of Aion Auto UK, said: ‘The Aion UT is a small car that acts big on longer journeys. It’s the perfect nippy weekday runaround, with the space and range to comfortably take the family on weekend road trips.’
All cars get Aion’s ‘Great 8 Promise’ which delivers an eight-year warranty, eight years of servicing and eight years of roadside assistance and MOT until the car turns eight years old. It’s also transferable between owners, which means that subsequent buyers can benefit from this coverage – even if they didn’t buy the car new initially.
Further pricing and specification details for the UT are expected to be announced shortly.
Aion’s first UK model, the V, was launched earlier this year, while a larger plug-in hybrid SUV is expected to join the range in the near future.
The brand has 11 dealerships across the UK, with sites in Leicester, Nottingham and Derby opening soon.
