Denza has pulled the wraps off its new Z electric supercar at the Goodwood Festival of Speed – and the flagship model is set to become the most expensive Chinese car on sale in the UK.
The flagship Z Racing will cost £172,900 when order books open later this summer, while the Z Spider is priced from £159,900 and the entry-level Z Coupe starts at £142,900.
The pricing marks another significant step for Chinese manufacturers, which have rapidly expanded from value-focused family cars into the premium and performance sectors of the UK market.
The Z is making its European debut at this weekend’s Goodwood Festival of Speed, with the Coupe and Racing models joining the Spider version that was first revealed at the Auto China show earlier this year.
All three versions use the same triple-motor electric powertrain, producing 1,582bhp through one motor on the front axle and two on the rear.
Performance varies slightly across the range, with the Coupe completing the 0-62mph sprint in 2.25 seconds and the Spider taking 2.3 seconds.
The flagship Racing model cuts that to just 1.96 seconds when fitted with optional semi-slick tyres, while also boasting a top speed of 217mph.
The Z also introduces Denza’s ultra-fast Flash charging technology, allowing the battery to be recharged from 10% to 70% in just five minutes.
Standard equipment includes a 12.8-inch infotainment touchscreen with Google Built-in, an 8.88-inch digital driver’s display, soft-closing doors, a digital rear-view mirror and a Devialet premium audio system with up to 12 speakers.
Denza is BYD Group’s premium technology-focused brand and is being introduced to Europe during 2026.
UK orders for the Z range will open alongside the launch of the brand’s first UK retailers in late summer, with the first customer deliveries expected before the end of the year.
The launch gives Chinese manufacturers a genuine rival in the high-performance electric car market as they continue to push into higher-value segments traditionally dominated by established European brands.
