Drive Motor Retail has added Leapmotor to its Ipswich Vauxhall site as the Chinese brand continues to establish itself in Europe.

Last week, Leapmotor boss Damien Dally told Car Dealer that the outfit was hoping to have 70 retail points by the end of the year, and the latest news will put the brand well on the way.

The site will showcase Leapmotor alongside its existing Vauxhall franchise, as the carmaker continues its strategy of utilising existing Stellantis dealers.

The new retail point is set to be up and running very soon and bosses say they are ‘proud’ to be partnered with the budget EV brand.

Sam Horncastle, general manager at Drive Ipswich, said: ‘We are excited to bring Leapmotor to our Ipswich dealership.

‘Leapmotor’s advanced technology and practical all-electric models make it a great option for local drivers considering their first EV or looking to upgrade.

‘Introducing Leapmotor gives us the opportunity to offer even more choice to our customers, and our team is looking forward to helping people explore the T03, C10 and B10 in December.’

As well as in Ipswich, Drive also represents Leapmotor in Aldershot, Bristol North, Bury St Edmunds, Darlington, and Leamington Spa.

Ben Saysell, Leapmotor lead at Drive Motor Retail, added: ‘Leapmotor has had an exceptional response across our initial five sites this year, so expanding into Ipswich is a natural next step.

‘The brand is attracting many customers and we’re proud to be one of the UK’s leading partners supporting its rollout.’

Speaking at the launch of the B10 last week, Leapmotor managing director Dally outlined his plans for the brands UK dealer network.

He was also bullish about the company’s chances of success in the UK as he outlined its important role in helping Stellantis meet ZEV mandate targets.
