Jaguar has revealed the interior of its upcoming electric Type 01 saloon car for the first time.

The Type 01 follows the Type 00 concept, which broke the internet when it was unveiled in late 2024 as Jaguar confirmed plans to transform itself into a low-volume luxury electric car maker.

The move also saw the brand slash its UK dealer network and temporarily stop selling new cars while it prepared for its relaunch.

The British firm’s first production model since its controversial rebrand is due to be unveiled in full in New York on October 6 ahead of customer deliveries next year.

Comparing it to the original concept, the overall shape of the interior, seats and steering wheel has stayed similar although, from what we can see in the photos, it appears more comfortable.

The images show the Type 01’s minimalist cabin, centred around a full-length spine running through the middle of the interior.

The brass-inspired feature divides the driver and passenger while matching trim is also used across the doors. Both front occupants sit in a low driving position, while the cabin features a number of ‘strikethrough’ design elements which Jaguar says will also appear on the exterior.

Instead of a conventional rear-view mirror, the Type 01 uses a screen displaying footage from a rear-facing camera mounted at the back of the car. The display sits at the base of the windscreen to make it easier for drivers to see.

Rawdon Glover, managing director of Jaguar, said: ‘Jaguar Type 01 is the first production car to follow our new creative philosophy.

‘Unmistakable from every angle, the interior is no different.

‘With Type 01, we wanted every journey to be an occasion, from how it drives to how it looks and how it makes you feel.

‘With a confidence-inspiring GT driving position, clean and sophisticated technology and dramatic styling, Type 01 has an interior like no other.’

Jaguar announced the Type 01’s name back in May, saying the ‘Type’ badge references the company’s heritage, while the ‘0’ represents zero-emission motoring and the ‘1’ marks the beginning of a new era for the brand. The three-motor electric GT is expected to produce around 986bhp and offer a targeted range of up to 400 miles.

The prototype will next appear at Monterey Car Week before making its production debut in New York this October.
