Vertu has opened its first Omoda and Jaecoo dealership as the dealer group strengthens its relationship with two of the UK’s fastest-growing car brands.

The retailer has launched the new dual franchise from its Burton site, where new Citroen sales have now ended to make way for the Chinese marques.

The site, which is undergoing a £300,000 refurbishment, will continue to provide servicing and aftersales support for existing Citroen customers, while new Citroen sales will transfer to nearby Derby.

The opening marks Vertu’s first representation of the Omoda and Jaecoo brands, which have enjoyed rapid growth since arriving in the UK under parent company Chery in 2024.

The Jaecoo 7 has been one of the standout performers, finishing as the UK’s best-selling new car in March (see video below) and sitting behind only the Ford Puma and Kia Sportage in year-to-date sales at the end of May.

Combined, Omoda and Jaecoo held a 4.66% share of the UK new car market at the same point in the year, ranking sixth overall ahead of established brands including Vauxhall, Toyota and Peugeot.

The Burton dealership will continue to be led by branch manager Martin Maw, with customers able to choose from the full Omoda and Jaecoo range, which includes SUVs priced from just over £24,000.

Maw said: ‘This is a hugely exciting moment for everyone working at the dealership, and on a personal level, I’m proud that the team here has been selected by Vertu to take on the responsibility of opening the first Omoda and Jaecoo site within the Group.’

Vertu chief executive Robert Forrester added: ‘The opening of our first dealership representing Omoda and Jaecoo marks a significant moment for the business.

‘Both Omoda and Jaecoo have made a huge impression on the UK market in a short space of time, and it is an exciting opportunity for everyone in Burton to be involved with this new relationship from the very start.’
