The MG5 was the fastest-selling used car in the UK last month, with examples taking an average of just 20.6 days to find a buyer.
That is according to the latest monthly data from CarGurus, which showed electric cars dominating its list of the fastest-moving used stock in August.
The electric MG estate topped the rankings ahead of the Mercedes-Benz EQA, which averaged 25 days to turn, and the Polestar 2 on 25.4 days.
Tesla’s Model 3 and Volkswagen ID.4 completed the top five, at 26.7 and 27 days respectively.
The MG5’s performance represents a major improvement on August 2025, when examples spent an average of 45.8 days advertised before selling.
That means its days to turn fell by 55% year-on-year.
MG also had two other models in the top 10, with the HS placing seventh on 28 days and the MG4 ninth on 28.5 days.
Tesla’s Model Y, the Skoda Enyaq and Audi Q4 E-Tron also featured.

The Audi recorded one of the biggest improvements compared with last year, with its average days to turn falling from 51.5 to 29.3.
CarGurus said the Q4 E-Tron’s average asking price was also down 18% year-on-year, while sales increased by 181%.
Chris Knapman, CarGurus UK editorial director, said: ‘August’s findings show the continued demand for used electric and hybrid cars, as they dominate the fastest-selling models on the platform.
‘Seeing the MG5 move ahead of Tesla’s Model 3 and Model Y is an interesting development, and reflects the strong value offered by this spacious and long-range electric car.’
While EVs dominated the fastest-selling rankings, more familiar names continued to lead the market by outright sales volume.
The Vauxhall Corsa was once again the best-selling used car on CarGurus in August, with an average advertised price of £8,905.
That was 15% lower than the £10,471 average recorded a year earlier.
The Ford Fiesta finished second, followed by the Nissan Qashqai, Volkswagen Golf and Ford Focus.

All 10 of CarGurus’ best-selling models had lower average asking prices than they did in August 2025, with the Sportage recording the biggest fall at 15.8%.
CarGurus calculates its fastest-selling rankings by analysing how long vehicles spend on dealer forecourts before being sold, while its best-selling table covers models with at least 1,500 listings on the marketplace.
