Mercedes-Benz has overhauled its combustion-engined C-Class, joining the recently revealed electric model.
As before, the C-Class is available as a saloon or estate and comes with a range of petrol, diesel and hybrid engines.
But the latest version adopts much of the styling seen on the electric C-Class, including a prominent front grille featuring a large Mercedes star.
Star-themed LED lighting is also carried across, although the combustion-engined model has a slightly more upright roofline than its electric counterpart.
Mercedes says the latest C-Class has been given a revised range of engines that are more efficient than those used by the previous-generation car.
Mild-hybrid technology is fitted across the range, while the C300e plug-in hybrid can travel for up to 71 miles on electric power alone.
A four-cylinder diesel remains available for higher-mileage customers, with buyers able to choose between 161bhp and 197bhp versions.
Mercedes has also revised the C-Class’s suspension, with the manufacturer claiming the changes deliver greater agility without compromising long-distance comfort.
Rear-axle steering will also be available, helping to improve manoeuvrability at lower speeds.
Inside, the updated C-Class gets an 11.9-inch infotainment screen alongside a 12.3-inch digital instrument display.
Mercedes has also expanded the car’s voice-control capabilities, with ChatGPT, Microsoft Bing and Google Gemini integrated to allow more detailed voice commands.
The new C-Class goes on sale today, August 18, with prices starting from £46,995.
