A performance car dealership has announced the death of its founder, with his family saying they will continue the business he spent years building.
DT Performance Cars Ltd confirmed that founder Daniel Tranter died on July 24, with his family describing themselves as ‘truly devastated’ in a statement shared on social media.
The dealership said Dan had turned a lifelong passion for cars into a successful business, buying vehicles he genuinely loved and taking pride in helping customers find their dream cars.
In the statement, the family said: ‘Dan had loved cars from a young age and built an incredible business around that passion.
‘Only buying cars he genuinely loved, and took enormous pride in helping customers find their dream cars.
‘Meeting people, talking about cars and sharing that passion with others brought him immense joy.’
Shocked car dealers shared their sadness in the comments, along with respect and admiration for Dan’s business.
They added that, away from the showroom, Dan was a devoted husband and father who loved spending time with his wife, Kirsten, and their two daughters.
The family also spoke about Dan’s longstanding efforts to encourage conversations around mental health, saying he had openly shared his own experiences over many years and had organised men’s wellbeing events at the dealership while raising money for the Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM).
They said he had supported hundreds of people through their own struggles by listening without judgement and encouraging others to seek help.
The dealership said it would continue operating while asking customers for patience and understanding during what it described as an ‘incredibly difficult time’.
The statement concluded: ‘We ask for your patience, understanding and support while we continue Dan’s legacy at DT Performance Cars.
‘We hope you’ll continue this journey with us and, every now and then, think of Dan when you take your favourite car out for a drive.’
