Polestar has opened its largest retail space in Europe in Leicester as the electric car maker continues to expand its UK presence.
The new site, located at Freeman’s Common in the heart of Leicester, and operated by dealer group Paul Rigby, has opened with 12 cars on display and will serve customers across the East Midlands.
It will showcase the full Polestar line-up, including the Polestar 2, Polestar 3 and Polestar 4, while also becoming one of the first UK locations where customers can see the forthcoming Polestar 5 ahead of its launch later this summer.
Pre-owned Polestar models will also be available from the site as demand for used electric cars continues to grow.
The Space has been designed around Polestar’s existing retail model, with customers able to tailor their experience from initial enquiry through to vehicle delivery.
James Underwood from Paul Rigby said: ‘We’re incredibly excited to be opening Polestar Leicester. The newly renovated Space will become a destination for both existing EV drivers and those considering making the switch, giving customers across the region the opportunity to experience Polestar’s performance-focused electric vehicles up close.’
Polestar UK managing director Matt Galvin – who appeared on Car Dealer Podcast Live last year – said the opening represented a major milestone for the brand’s UK expansion.
‘With the opening of our largest retail Space in Europe right here in the UK, Leicester represents a major milestone in Polestar’s UK expansion,’ he said.
‘The new Space brings the brand closer to customers across the East Midlands while showcasing our full model range and offering some of the first opportunities to experience Polestar 5 ahead of its launch.’
The site is located in a city which has made a major push towards electric transport, including a 10-space charging hub which opened in 2025, and a target to have a 240-strong EV bus network by March 2027.
The launch comes as the Swedish performance brand gets ready a huge product development cycle.
It is planning to launch four new cars in the next three years.
Earlier this year, Polestar boss Michael Lohscheller praised the ‘renaissance of the dealers’, and said the brand was doubling down on its commitment to physical retail sites.
