Motorists ‘having to dig deeper’ as wholesale oil prices rise – RAC
Drivers face the need to ‘dig deeper’ as wholesale prices of oil cause the cost of petrol and diesel to surge.
That’s according to the RAC, which has released data to show how petrol prices have reached their highest level since September 2022, increasing by 5p a litre in the last week alone.
The average cost of a litre of unleaded now stands at 167.17p, while diesel has risen by the same amount to 188.63p a litre. It marks the highest that petrol pump prices have been since the start of the conflict between the US and Iran.

Limited to just 300 units, the AMB 002 Roadster offers a ‘lightweight, razor-sharp’ experience inspired by Aston Martin’s cars. The side strake found on the manufacturer’s sports cars, for instance, runs through the bike’s side fairing, while the twin-oval exhausts are similar in design to those on the Vanquish and DBX S.

Stock prices in London closed sharply lower on Wednesday, as Brent crude surged above 100 dollars a barrel and heightened inflation fears weighed on global equities.
The FTSE 100 index closed down 141.60 points, 1.3%, at 10,670.06. Autotrader Group was among the worst performers on the blue-chip index, down 4.7%.
In European equities on Wednesday, the CAC 40 in Paris closed down 1.9%, while the DAX 40 in Frankfurt ended down 1.7%.
