Delaer group Unity Automotive has been appointed as a primary UK dealer for the new Dodge Charger, bringing the American muscle car to its Oxford dealership.
The business has been given the nod by KWA – the official European importer for Dodge and RAM – and has opened its first UK order allocations.
The eighth-generation Charger will initially be offered in two-door Sixpack form, with prices starting at £70,000 for the 420bhp R/T.
Customers wanting the more powerful 550bhp Scat Pack will pay £76,000.
Both versions will be sold exclusively in left-hand drive, with the first cars due to go on display at Unity Oxford shortly.
Customers will also be able to test drive the Charger and configure cars with the dealership’s dedicated American car team.
Unity will also accept special orders for four-door Sixpack models and the electric Charger Daytona, with cars available to individual customer specifications.
The latest appointment builds on Unity Automotive’s existing relationship with KWA, with the dealer already representing Dodge and RAM from its Oxford site.
Unity’s wider franchise portfolio includes Alfa Romeo, Abarth, Fiat, Jeep, MG, Subaru and Isuzu, with dealerships across Oxfordshire, Warwickshire, Gloucestershire and Leicestershire.
V8 makes way for twin-turbo six-cylinder engine
While the latest Charger remains petrol-powered, the famous HEMI V8 found in its predecessors has been dropped.
Instead, Sixpack versions use Dodge’s 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged Hurricane straight-six engine.
The entry-level R/T produces 420bhp and 468lb ft of torque, with Dodge claiming a 0-60mph time of 4.6 seconds and a 12.9-second quarter-mile.
That makes it 50bhp more powerful than the old 5.7-litre HEMI R/T and half a second quicker to 60mph.
The £76,000 Scat Pack turns things up further with 550bhp and 531lb ft of torque.
It can reach 60mph in a claimed 3.9 seconds before completing the quarter-mile in 12.2 seconds.
Both versions use an eight-speed automatic gearbox and come with all-wheel drive as standard.
Drivers can also select a rear-wheel-drive mode which sends all of the engine’s torque to the rear wheels.
Line Lock is standard on the Scat Pack and can be specified on the R/T as part of its Performance Handling Group.
