The motor trade is an industry that never stands still, with new ideas, smarter technology and  innovative products continuing to emerge year after year.

This award recognises the company whose innovation has made the biggest impact over the past 12 months, making it one of the most prestigious on offer in Car Dealer Power.

This year’s winner – Brego – massively impressed dealers with its AI powered valuations, depreciation and ownership costs tool.

Founded in 2019, the firm offers real-time market intelligence to dealers, lenders, insurers and manufacturers.

Its platform combines live valuations, stock analysis, forecasting and market insights to help retailers make smarter buying, pricing and stocking decisions, with the business building a reputation for using artificial intelligence and machine learning to deliver some of the most accurate vehicle valuations on the market.

A new winner at the Car Dealer Power Awards, bosses were thrilled to come out on top in such a hotly-fought category, as the firm’s head of insight and communications, Rupert Pontin, explained when we caught up with him to present the award.

It’s absolutely wonderful, to be honest,’ he told Car Dealer. ‘It’s amazing to win this award, and I think it’s even more special because it’s not an award we entered ourselves into. It’s an award we’ve been put forward for by our customers.

‘We’re exceedingly grateful to all the Brego customers who nominated us and put us forward. We’re absolutely over the moon.

‘I think dealers have nominated us because of the output they get through both our dealer and lender platforms, as well as through our data.

‘The way we bring together whole-of-market information and insight on the UK automotive market is pretty unique. The comprehensive nature of the product means customers only need to go to one place to see what’s happening in the market, what a vehicle is worth, what it’s going to be worth and all the associated information that’s essential to a used car dealer, lender or insurer.’

While this award marks a major milestone for Brego, the firm is refusing to rest on its laurels. It is now planning to keep refining its platform with new features that give dealers even greater visibility of comparable vehicles and their own stock performance.

The business also says future development will be driven by customer feedback, ensuring its tools continue to tackle the biggest challenges facing dealers, lenders and insurers.

Pontin added: We absolutely never stop. That’s one of the great things about Brego. We’re constantly innovating, constantly changing the way the platform works and continually improving its appearance.

‘Over the next 12 months we’ll be introducing further improvements to the way dealers can view similar vehicles in the marketplace and analyse their own stock. The aim is to help them make better decisions that improve profitability while also reducing stock days.

‘The other developments will come directly from the discussions we have with our customers, whether they’re lenders, insurers or dealers. We always ask what problems they’re facing and what we can do to help solve them.

‘Ever since we started in 2019, that’s always been our methodology.’
