Car finance broker Car Loans UK is believed to have suddenly ceased trading, Car Dealer understands.
Multiple sources have contacted Car Dealer throughout today (Oct 27) to report that the firm is no longer offering finance and is not returning calls.
Car dealers with deals set to have been paid out by the firm has been left in limbo and lenders are believed to have told some dealers that the broker has ‘collapsed’.
It has been claimed that the firm’s employees have been told to seek employment elsewhere ahead of the outfit winding down operations.
Car Dealer has attempted to contact the Car Loans UK via telephone and email multiple times today, but is yet to receive a response.
Its website is still live and its phone lines ring, but despite long hold periods, no one answers the calls.
One car dealer with knowledge of the situation told Car Dealer that the firm had ‘gone pop’.
Rumours have been swirling in the industry for days that the broker – which is believed to write around 800 finance deals a month – was ‘in difficulties’.
One source said: ‘We’ve heard they have been in trouble for a while. They focused on acquiring customers via PPC and then sold them dealers’ cars and sent the dealers the money.
‘We’ve never liked working with brokers like these. We had a deal waiting to pay out and it didn’t arrive so we started making enquiries with the lender they had brokered the deal with and they confirmed to us that Car Loans UK had ceased trading.’
The broker said it works with a panel of lenders and helped customers source used cars from dealers nationwide while arranging them finance.
On its website, the firm said: ‘Our aim at Car Loans UK is to find you the perfect vehicle and finance plan. Our experienced consultants do the hard work, saving you the time and effort. We will actively source you the ideal used car and finance package from our panel of lenders.’
The Stockport-based business claims on its website to offer hire purchase, Personal Contract Purchase and other finance options, including deals for customers with poor credit histories.
It operates under the trading name of BMG FG (UK) Limited and is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.
Nothing has yet been published on the firm’s Companies House page, nor has any update been given to the London Gazette.
