Morgan is a brand famed for using wood to build cars but one of the firm’s new showrooms has been utilising a very different material.

That is because Ranmore Fine Motor Cars’ new dealership in Surrey has utilised a new technique to transform the equivalent of 1.6 million plastic straws into a stylish showroom floor.

The Betchworth-based business has taken on an official Morgan franchise, expanding its existing operation selling, servicing and restoring classic Rolls-Royce and Bentley models.

The 6,500 sq ft showroom was created by converting a former agricultural building, which was refurbished using structural insulated panels.

The cutting edge floor was created by sustainable surfacing specialist Oltco, which the Recycle Bound surface throughout

The process involved combining natural aggregates with recycled plastic materials, using a system pioneered by the firm back in 2019.

Since then, the outfit claims to have recycled the equivalent of more than one plastic billion straws through its use.

The completed showroom displays new Morgan models alongside a selection of classic cars, while Ranmore’s existing Rolls-Royce and Bentley servicing workshop continues to operate on site.

Jonathan Tait, CEO of The Ranmore Group, said: ‘Converting an old agricultural building into a showroom fit for Morgan was no small task, and finding the right flooring solution was one of our biggest challenges.

‘Oltco looked after us brilliantly throughout. Rob, Warren and the team were outstanding, and their communication meant we were able to keep Morgan fully updated on progress at every stage.

‘Morgan themselves have been really pleased with the end result.’

Rob Wilson, director of Oltco Crawley and Dorking, added: ‘They needed a floor that could turn a very uneven agricultural building into something smart enough for a prestige car showroom, without the cost and disruption of levelling and concreting the whole space.
