Our World Cup car is up for sale on eBay

Time 8:16 am, July 31, 2010

i10-grass-132OUR Hyundai i10 World Cup car has gone up for sale on eBay – now all we need is a buyer…

On Friday the car featured in the local paper – a day early, despite our request, but I suppose we should just be glad it got in.

We’re hoping that will drum up some interest. We’ve already had some response – a freelance hack called us as he thinks the national newspapers might be interested.

He’s been round to take some pictures of the car and will be punting the story out to the national press soon. It is the silly season after all so you never know…

We’re also going to ramp up our PR offensive. Hyundai will be sending out a press release on Monday to the motoring mafia and we’re going to do some direct emailing to football mags, car museums and dealer contacts in the hope we can find a buyer.

The auction will run for 10 days – we thought the longer it’s up the more exposure it’ll get – so we’ll find out whether our punt was an own goal, or a golden goal, very soon.

Here’s hoping we’ll be a lot closer to turning £0 into a Porsche 911 in the process. Fingers crossed…
